This two-day paediatric first aid course focuses on emergency scenarios that face professionals looking after young children and infants, including teachers, playgroup leaders, childcare providers, au pairs, nannies and child-minders.

The paediatric first aid course meets the standards required by Ofsted as defined in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and within The Child Care Register guide.

  • Roles and responsibilities of a First Aider
  • Completing and storing official records
  • Assess an emergency situation safely
  • Unconscious infant and child
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation for an infant and a child
  • Choking
  • External bleeding
  • Shock
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Injuries to bones, joints and muscles Head and Spinal injuries
  • Conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose
  • Chronic childhood medical conditions and sudden illness
  • Extremes heat and cold
  • Electric Shock
  • Burns
  • Poisoning
  • Bites and Sting

Duration

Day : Two days

The price includes:

Professional Instruction, all course materials and upon successful completion of the course and final assessment, the delegate will receive a Certificate valid for 3 years.

Maximum delegate to Trainer ratio:  12 : 1

Assessment

People attending these courses are trained and assessed by one expert trainer/assessor whilst the course is progressing.

Assessment will be through observation along with some practical exercises and a multiple choice question paper.
